DJ Maz - The Golden Era Mix - Vol. 1.

Anyone remember when hip-hop had that raw, gritty feel to it?...
When beats were rich with jazz, funk & soul samples?...
Tims & Hoodies & Triple Fat Goose?... Anyone?...
I was a teenager hustlin' gas & grass cuttin' $ to scoop up any &
every cassette single i could when these joints was comin' out...
Just got the license, ya know the first whip, an '82 Oldsmobile...
Cruisin' young bull slick back hair guiderino style...
Seemed like everything that came out back then was thorough like boriqua jawns in the summertime...
Here's a lil taste of that time... Got like 5 volumes on deck, probably could do 10 more... It was that deep...
Some of the usual suspects, some remixes & slept on joints too...
Did this like 5-6 years ago, all with my wax (miss you)...
Was 2 different mixes, i combined 'em with the help of the PC...
Newly re-mastered, added some echoes and all that jazz to make it nice & fuzzy for y'all...
Tried to do some cool sh*t....
Enjoy...
(Peace to DJ J-Sun from ATL for doing the illest mid-90's mix in my opinion, definitely inspired this one)

Rest in Peace Baatin (Titus Glover).

Scandalous-T. later changed to, Baatin, defined in Islamic as " Hidden ", Has passed away. I didn't want to believe it. Baatin told The LA Times in 2000, " If people could open their minds, they could see a broader perspective of hip-hop instead of categorizing it as 95-beats-per-minute, loud snares and muffled samples. . . . It could be anything. "

Now that's two thirds of the original Slum Village that is gone, physically. The only member remaining alive is T3. I REFUSE to sit here and babble about what his " problems/struggles " were. Fact is, he was one third of the best groups all of time. Right up there with Tribe and De la Soul. If you don't know about Slum and Baatin's work, I suggest that you do your fucking homework. Fan-tas-tic Vol.1 & 2. Nuff' said. Peace.
